In a recent announcement, Coinbase officially stated that starting July 21, 2025, US users can trade CFTC-regulated perpetual futures on the Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), the largest derivative type in global trading volume.

Coinbase mentioned that for years, US cryptocurrency traders could only watch as their international counterparts used one of the most popular tools in the digital asset market - perpetual futures. These innovative derivatives offer higher leverage and do not require dealing with monthly expiration dates, capturing 90% of global cryptocurrency trading volume. Due to complex regulatory environment, US traders have been unable to participate. However, this situation is about to change.
