According to Jinshi News, despite recent optimism from EU diplomats about reaching a trade agreement, Trump stated that the chances of a deal with the EU to lower import tariffs are only 50%. Trump said: 'I think it's a 50-50 proposition, maybe a little bit less, but it's about a 50% chance.' Negotiators from the US and EU are working closely to reach an agreement. Earlier this month, Trump warned that if no deal is reached by August 1, the EU will face punitive measures of 30% tariffs on most goods, along with industry-specific additional tariffs. Trump also mentioned today that in the coming days, nearly 200 tariff letters will be sent unilaterally to set a new round of tariffs for other countries, with some letters specifying tariff rates of 10% or 15%.
