The incident was traced back to a software engineer at the company whose laptop was compromised. The engineer, who was using a company-provided laptop meant for office use, had his login credentials obtained by hackers through files he opened. The attack was launched on July 19th, and the engineer has been arrested in Bangalore. This incident once again highlights the importance of strengthening backend infrastructure security controls.
