According to sources, the US government is set to announce the results of the Section 232 investigation on specific industries such as global semiconductors, pharmaceutical raw materials, servers, key components, and minerals. Economists point out that procedurally, after the investigation results are released, the US President will take action within 90 days of receiving the report. During this time, countries will have the opportunity to negotiate with the US, so similar to the tariff escalation in early April, the Section 232 investigation results and tariff plans are unlikely to be implemented immediately. The US may introduce an investment framework or structure to further negotiate with countries on US investments, with conditions possibly including different terms and amounts in exchange for reduced tariff rates. As for semiconductor tariff rates, economists speculate on levels ranging from 20% to 35%.
