In a recent tweet, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced that 1000 signatures have been collected to petition the Lugano City Government to restore the Satoshi Nakamoto statue that was previously thrown into a lake. The statue, located in Lugano, Switzerland, was stolen and thrown into the lake on August 3rd, but has since been recovered by the city government.

On October 25, 2024, Lugano City in Switzerland unveiled a statue in Ciani Park (Villa Ciani) commemorating the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. The event was organized by the Plan B initiative in collaboration with Tether and the Lugano City. The statue was designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, and took 18 months of research and 3 months to build.
