According to The Miner Mag, Canadian Bitcoin mining company Bitfarms has signed agreements to purchase 3 acres of land in Washington state and 181 acres of land in Pennsylvania for $1.9 million and $3.5 million respectively, for potential high-performance computing (HPC) development. At the same time, the company has decided to close its Bitcoin mining facility in Argentina due to power supply interruptions resulting from the debt restructuring of energy supplier Generacion Mediterranea S.A. (GMSA) since May 12. Bitfarms has reached an agreement with GMSA to gradually recover a $3.5 million energy deposit starting in January 2026 over 18 months, and to waive $2.8 million in asset retirement obligations related to leasing land in the country.
