The Ethereum Foundation has released Protocol Update 002, detailing the research progress on Data Availability Sampling (DAS) and the importance of its extension for secure and scalable Data Availability (DA). The update includes Fusaka's launch of PeerDAS, a new data architecture allowing blob extensions beyond current throughput levels from 6 blobs/block to 48 blobs/block; the Blob Parameter Only (BPO) fork will gradually increase the mainnet blob count and support through incremental peer-to-peer bandwidth optimization; Glamsterdam plans to iterate on PeerDAS design with advanced networking technologies for further expansion; as data scales, memory pool sharding technology can preserve Ethereum's value; research on the next generation of DAS will kickstart the evolution of secure DA extension.
