Hassett stated that he believes the President has the right to dismiss Fed Governor Cook: 'The President absolutely has the right to dismiss a Federal Reserve Governor for just cause, and I believe these allegations are serious.'
Yesterday, US President Trump signed a document removing Fed Governor Cook from her position, effective immediately. Trump had previously publicly considered nominating Hassett as the next Federal Reserve Chairman.
