According to official documents, the Northern District Attorney's Office in Ohio, USA has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit targeting funds defrauded in a cryptocurrency investment scam. An elderly man and his sister in Trumbull County lost over $1.6 million in the scam that began in November 2024. The victims were contacted by scammers via text messages and lured into transferring funds to a fake investment platform on the Telegram platform. Federal investigators traced around $200,000 of stolen funds through blockchain analysis and have frozen $325,060 worth of USDT tokens. The FBI Cleveland Division is actively investigating this case and other related cryptocurrency fraud cases, with the US government planning to return the recovered funds to the victims.
