According to Crypto News, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the establishment of a Cross-Border Task Force to investigate foreign fraud schemes, including market manipulation practices like 'pump and dump.' The task force will also enhance enforcement efforts against 'gatekeepers' (such as underwriters and auditors) facilitating these organizations' entry into U.S. capital markets. Additionally, the task force will review the role of foreign government control and other factors in securities law violations. SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins stated that while global companies are welcome to enter U.S. capital markets, the use of international borders to circumvent investor protections will not be tolerated.
