Instead of pushing messages, according to The Block, the cryptocurrency crime investigation department Security Alliance (SEAL) has unveiled a new way to report potential phishing websites that use increasingly sophisticated methods to hide hacker traces.
SEAL stated that traditional automatic scanning of URLs encounters common problems with web crawlers, such as captchas and anti-bot protection, and scammers have a 'disguise' function that provides harmless content to suspected scanners, so a way to see what users see is needed. Their new 'Verifiable Phishing Reporting Tool' uses a new encryption scheme called 'TLS proof' that allows white hat hackers to inspect websites in the form that potential victims see. SEAL pointed out that Transport Layer Security itself does not support generating session records, leaving room for third parties to falsify content. Users can submit evidence through this program, SEAL will verify and ensure that the content is properly signed and contains evidence of malicious activity. This feature, after about a month of private testing, is now open to the public.
