According to Forbes, a meme coin named MELANIA, claiming to be official and endorsed by US First Lady Melania Trump, was launched in January this year, around the time of President Donald Trump's inauguration.

In April, a group of cryptocurrency traders filed a lawsuit alleging that a developer alliance behind multiple meme coins including M3M3, LIBRA, ENRON, and TRUST, carried out a fraudulent scheme to artificially inflate prices and manipulate coin issuance for personal gain, resulting in investor losses.

On Tuesday, the plaintiffs updated the lawsuit to include MELANIA in the fraud scheme. The lawsuit does not accuse Melania herself of participating in the fraud, but claims that she inadvertently endorsed the project, serving as a figurehead. The plaintiffs emphasized that if the First Lady's team was aware of any criminal involvement in the project, they would immediately withdraw any endorsements.

The White House and the defendants' lawyers have not responded to requests for comment.
