According to The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI may conduct an IPO as early as 2027, making it one of the largest IPOs in history. OpenAI announced a capital restructuring on Tuesday, establishing a structure where its non-profit entity, now renamed as the OpenAI Foundation, holds approximately $130 billion in equity of its for-profit division. CEO Sam Altman stated that an IPO is the most likely path considering the company's future capital needs. Microsoft has invested over $13 billion in OpenAI since 2019 and supports the restructuring, with its investment in Open AI Group PBC now valued at around $135 billion, equivalent to a 27% stake in the company post-dilution.
