In a recent announcement, the WeChat Security Center warned users to be cautious of illegal activities such as pyramid schemes and fraud conducted by some WeChat accounts in group chats. These activities use false pretenses such as national asset unfreezing, national policies and engineering projects, as well as blockchain virtual currency and stablecoins, to lure users with high returns. They encourage users to join group chats, invite others, share suspicious links leading to fraudulent apps, participate in daily check-ins, meetings, and brainwashing activities, ultimately leading to fraud. Such actions seriously violate users' property rights. Once identified, the platform will take a step-by-step approach in accordance with national laws and regulations, as well as Tencent's WeChat Software License and Service Agreement, WeChat Personal Account Usage Guidelines, and other platform agreements and rules. Repeat offenders may face permanent login restrictions, and WeChat groups found to be in violation will have their functions disabled.
