According to reports, two suspects have been arrested in Ukraine in connection with a cryptocurrency-related car arson and murder case in Vienna, Austria at the end of November this year. The victim is Daniil Kuzmin, the 21-year-old son of Sergei Kuzmin, the deputy mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine. One suspect is Alexander Agoyev, a 45-year-old former Ukrainian customs official, and the other is Bogdan Reenzhuk, the 19-year-old stepson of Olesia Irashuk, the Ukrainian ambassador to Bulgaria.

The motive for the suspects was to obtain Daniil's cryptocurrency wallet password. Daniil, who was studying in Vienna, had revealed to one of the suspects that his father was the deputy mayor of Kharkiv and owned cryptocurrency assets. Vienna police confirmed that Daniil's cryptocurrency wallet had a record of a large transfer, and when the two suspects were arrested in Ukraine, a large amount of US dollars was found on them.

Daniil was attacked in the underground parking lot of the Sofitel Hotel in Vienna, with bloodstains at the scene indicating that he was beaten in the parking lot. The police believe that Daniil was locked in the car for several hours, during which he was tortured until he revealed the passwords for two cryptocurrency wallets. After emptying his cryptocurrency wallets, the suspects threw Daniil in the back seat of a vehicle and set it on fire. The burnt black Mercedes-Benz car with Ukrainian plates belonged to Daniil's family.

The 19-year-old suspect Bogdan is the stepson of Ukrainian ambassador Olesia Irashuk to Bulgaria, and his biological father is the son of Ivan Reenzhuk, a well-known Ukrainian businessman who was acquitted of financial crimes in 2021. The other suspect, 45-year-old Alexander, is a former employee of the Odessa Customs Office and was a department head. Police found nearly $90,000 on him.
