According to Decrypt, ReversingLabs security researchers have detected malicious software targeting the popular Python Bitcoin wallet library bitcoinlib using machine learning technology. The malware packages, named 'bitcoinlibdbfix' and 'bitcoinlib - dev,' disguised themselves as solutions to error messages during Bitcoin transactions, aiming to cover legitimate commands to steal sensitive database files.

These malicious actors also engaged in discussions on GitHub and lobbied to run their library, but other developers correctly identified it as a scam. Both packages have now been removed and are no longer available for download, meaning they no longer pose a risk to developers.
