According to Bloomberg, US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the BBC for misleading editing in a documentary last year, seeking damages of at least $10 billion. Trump alleges that the editing falsely portrays him as directly inciting violence in a speech before his supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The lawsuit against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was filed in federal court in Miami on Monday. The complaint includes two charges: defamation and violation of Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act by the BBC.

Trump's camp is seeking at least $5 billion for each charge and additional compensation for related expenses.
