According to Coindesk, Ethereum core developers are advancing a major protocol upgrade named 'Glamsterdam,' set to launch in 2026, with a focus on addressing the fairness issues of Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) in the current network. One of the key proposals for this upgrade is EIP-7732: Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (ePBS), which formalizes the roles of Proposers and Builders at the protocol level to reduce reliance on centralized relays and external MEV infrastructure, enhancing censorship resistance and fairness in block production. Another complementary proposal is EIP-7928: Block-level Access Lists, allowing blocks to declare in advance which accounts and contract data they will access, aiding nodes in more efficiently preloading and reusing data for faster and more predictable block execution, laying the groundwork for future scalability. The complete EIP list for Glamsterdam is still being finalized.
