According to Santiment, a blockchain analysis platform, retail investors in the cryptocurrency market have shown strong sentiment on social media at the beginning of the year, but they warn that further market uptrend depends on whether retail investors can remain rational. Santiment analyst Brian Quinlivan stated in a YouTube video released on Saturday that retail investors need to maintain a certain level of caution, pessimism, and impatience. Despite other crypto sentiment indicators showing fear among market participants, Quinlivan mentioned that Santiment's social media data points in the opposite direction. 'The current sentiment is very positive,' he said, 'which is usually a cause for concern, but this time it may just be a normal rebound after the holidays.' Quinlivan stated that he is not overly concerned about a surge in FOMO sentiment, but added that if Bitcoin quickly rises to $92,000, this sentiment may enter the market. When the market excitement is too high, the cryptocurrency market often moves in the opposite direction of what most people expect. Quinlivan pointed out that a rapid rise in Bitcoin price to that level would reveal the true reaction of retail investors: if they start pouring in funds because of 'Bitcoin going up,' it would be a negative signal. Despite historically strong performances in January, the crypto market still faces fear signals. Retail frenzy in the cryptocurrency market often occurs near historical highs or cycle peaks, and historical data shows that the market often experiences a decline afterwards.
