Cryptocurrency journalist Eleanor Terrett revealed the latest progress on the Crypto Market Structure Act (CLARITY Act), with the U.S. Senate Banking Committee officially scheduling a hearing for Thursday, January 15, 2026, to address pending issues and strive for bipartisan consensus. During a meeting at the office of Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott on Tuesday, ethical standards for cryptocurrency officials, stablecoin yield, bipartisan representation in cryptocurrency regulatory agencies, and several DeFi-specific provisions were key topics of discussion, with 13 senators supporting cryptocurrency in attendance. While the resolution of these issues during the three-hour meeting remains unclear, both Republican and Democratic senators expressed optimism that the bill may garner bipartisan support. As senators engage in internal negotiations, the crypto industry is intensifying lobbying efforts this week to voice concerns on remaining unresolved issues. On Thursday, the Digital Chamber of Commerce will hold a lobbying event on Capitol Hill, with over 40 members lobbying the Senate. The event, featuring speakers such as White House Cryptocurrency Task Force Executive Director Patrick Witt and Wyoming Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis, will begin at 10 a.m. Participating representatives are expected from companies like Unicoin, Anchorage Digital, eToro, Coinflip, Input Output Group, Arca, Bitdeer, Binance.US, Crypto.com, VanEck, Hedera, Mara, and Helium. Additionally, some industry leaders will meet privately with senators this week to discuss unresolved issues related to DeFi and stablecoin yield.
