In a recent announcement, Josh Swihart, CEO of the Zcash (ZEC) development team Electric Coin Company (ECC), stated that the majority of the Bootstrap board (the non-profit organization behind ECC supporting Zcash) has deviated from Zcash's mission, particularly Zaki Manian, Christina Garman, Alan Fairless, and Michelle Lai (ZCAM). Due to alleged dismissal actions by ZCAM, the entire ECC team has collectively resigned. A new company is being established by the original team to continue building the unstoppable privacy currency with the same mission. Importantly, the Zcash protocol itself remains unaffected. This decision is solely to protect the team's work from malicious governance actions that have hindered ECC from fulfilling its original mission. Note: In 2020, after most shareholders chose to donate their shares, Zcash development company Electric Coin Company (ECC) transitioned to the non-profit organization Bootstrap structure.
