According to Whale Alert, Tether froze a total of 1.82 billion USDT in 5 separate addresses on the Tron network on January 11. The affected addresses held between 12 million and 50 million USDT. This action is in line with Tether's wallet freeze protocol introduced in December 2023 to comply with sanctions requirements from the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). As of mid-2025, Tether has frozen over $3 billion USDT and collaborated with more than 310 law enforcement agencies in 62 countries. AMLBot data shows that Tether's total frozen amount is approximately 30 times that of Circle since 2023. Currently, the circulating supply of USDT exceeds $187 billion, capturing around 64% of the market share.
