Under a 1978 revision to the law establishing the Fed, the Fed Chair is required to testify twice a year before Congress on monetary policy and economic conditions. Typically, the Fed Chair attends hearings before the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee. House Financial Services Committee Chair, GOP Representative French Hill, stated, 'I anticipate Chair Powell will not attend the February hearings in the House and Senate, as he is accused of perjury by the grand jury.'
