In a recent speech at Davos, President Trump revealed his views on the candidates for the new Federal Reserve Chair, exposing his inner anxiety. Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos, known as a mouthpiece for the Fed, wrote that candidates may say what Trump wants to hear during interviews, but once in office, they will revert to their true selves.
Trump stated, 'I will announce the new Federal Reserve Chair soon, and everyone I interviewed was excellent. The problem is, once they take office, they change, and they really do change. They say what I want to hear, then once in office for a six-year term, they suddenly say, let's raise rates a bit. I call them and say, sir, we don't want to discuss this. It's surprising how much people change once they have a job. It's a bit disloyal, but they must do what they think is right. Our current Fed Chair is a disaster, Jerome Powell. He's always behind, especially on rate issues. However, he was quite suitable for the other camp before the election. So we are about to welcome an excellent candidate, hoping he can handle the job.'
