OpenAI announced the launch of an artificial intelligence agent aimed at helping security teams discover and fix large database vulnerabilities, potentially reducing the demand for traditional cybersecurity companies. The AI agent, named Codex Security, can identify network security vulnerabilities and propose solutions before fixing errors. The tool is designed to run at scale and provide easily deployable patches, allowing developers to focus on higher-level tasks. The company revealed that the agent has been used to scan and identify security vulnerabilities in open-source code repositories. This product competes with Anthropic PBC's Claude Code Security, which also detects vulnerabilities and provides repair suggestions. Last month, the release of Claude's new security tool caused a drop in cybersecurity stocks, with Crowdstrike and Cloudflare both falling by 8%.
