According to sources, two top Wall Street regulatory agencies, the CFTC and SEC, are discussing plans to move into the same building in Washington, D.C., just steps away from the U.S. Capitol.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulate different markets. According to these sources, the plan does not involve merging the two agencies, but rather relocating the CFTC to the same building complex where the SEC is currently located, near Union Station. Discussions about this relocation plan began last year and may not be implemented until as late as 2027, as per these sources. The General Services Administration, responsible for overseeing federal real estate, is also involved in these discussions.
