According to reports, Robinhood's debut fund, Robinhood Ventures Fund I, began trading on the NYSE this week but closed at $21 on its first day, marking a 16% drop. The fund aims to provide retail investors with opportunities to invest in popular private companies, with a target fundraising goal of $1 billion. However, it has only raised $658.4 million so far (or $705.7 million if underwriters exercise full subscription). The fund's holdings include companies like Databricks, Stripe, Mercor, Oura, Ramp, Airwallex, and Revolut, but the lack of exposure to highly anticipated upcoming companies with high valuations (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX) is believed to be a key reason for the lack of interest from retail investors. Robinhood has stated plans to expand the fund to include 15-20 high-quality late-stage growth companies and actively seek equity stakes in popular startups like OpenAI. (TechCrunch)
