A Chinese Citizen, who currently resides in California and goes by the name of Wei Liu as reported by Cointelegraph.com. Liu claims that he published Bitcoin White Paper under the name Satoshi Nakamoto on Jan. 11, 2008. Liu filed his copyright claim on May 24,2019. Liu however isn't the first person to step forward, and claim to have created Bitcoin White Paper.

Craig Wright the Australian Computer Scientist and Businessman filed the first copyright claim on Bitcoin White Paper back on April 11, 2019. The rumors of Wright being Satoshi Nakamoto started back in 2015-2016. Wrights claim isn't without it's detractors. Many people believe Wrights claim is a hoax and Wright himself has been unable to prove that he is Nakamoto.

In a press release the U.S. Copyright Office still has not acknowledged anyone as the inventor of Bitcoin. They also made it clear that the office does not perform investigations in cases where a nickname or pseudonym is used. Despite Wright's threats to take legal action against anyone claiming that he isn't Nakamoto it appears the inventor of Bitcoin will not be named anytime soon.
