According to reports, the important energy hub of Fujaairah Port in the UAE was attacked again on Monday, forcing the suspension of oil loading operations at the port and causing international oil prices to rise above $100 per barrel.
Sources revealed that the port authorities are assessing the losses from the latest attack and have taken precautionary measures to halt loading. This is the second shutdown at the port in 3 days. Previously on Saturday, the port had a brief resumption of operations after a drone attack caused a fire.
Fujaairah Port is a crucial hub for the UAE's crude oil and fuel exports, serving as the country's only oil export channel bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, connecting to the terminal of the oil pipeline from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's main oil fields. With maritime shipping through the strait almost disrupted due to conflicts, the port's importance to global energy supply has further increased.
Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate. Trump has called on major world powers to send warships to escort commercial vessels to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, no country has yet explicitly stated their participation. With supply risks intensifying, market risk aversion is on the rise, driving international oil prices higher.
