Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Ethereum and founder of Cardano, believes recursive SNARKs are the pathway to scalability for BTC, as reported by Cointelegraph.

Hoskinson said recursive SNARKs would allow for a light client experience while maintaining full node security. Succienct non-interactive arguement of knowledges or SNARKs enables users to prove certain information without disclosing it. This both improves privacy and makes proof of possession take up less space.

Utilizing SNARKs would allow Bitcoin to increase it's transactional capacity.
