BTC could decline in coming weeks as buyers have failed to recover a strong position after the currency dropped below the $9,000 mark last night, as reported by Bitcoinist.

BTC's signs of weakness began last week when it was repeatedly unable to sustain itself above $10,000. At it's lowest point in the past 24 hours BTC was trading at $8,900. One analyst tweeted that if the currency drops below $8,600 it is likely in for greater decline.

In the past, $9,000 has been a stronghold level for BTC so commentators will have to see if the currency can hold it's ground.
