WhatsApp intends to support small and micro businesses in Brazil, which amount to over 10 million, as it believes easier payment can strengthen the e-commerce industry.

Last month, Facebook launched the Facebook Shops, by which businesses of any scale and budget can build online stores for free via both Facebook and Instagram. The new move of WhatsApp marks another attempt of Facebook to bolster its influence in e-commerce.
