A new ransomware is targetting macOS users downloading pirated software from torrent sites.

The attack has been dubbed EvilQuest and was first reported by Dinesh Devadoss in a tweet stating the attack is impersonating a Google Software update. Once EvilQuest has been downloaded, hackers ask victims to pay a ransom in Bitcoin, as reported by ZDNet.

The same wallet address has been used in every attack reported so far. The average ransom has been $50 worth of BTC and victims are given 72 hours to pay up.
