Chainanalysis has secured an additional $13 million from Sound Ventures and Ribbit Capital as a part of its expanded Series B round, according to an announcement on Tuesday, July 7.

The company had already acquired $36 million from three other investors last year. The extended investment period was added to help the blockchain security and analytics firm to support demand from government customers, co-founder and CEO of Chainanalysis, Michael Gronager, told The Block

Chainanalysis frequently caters to government agencies by supplying blockchain investigation tools to the Internal Revenue Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Securities and Exchange Commission, among others.

Chainanalysis has also added a high-profile individual as an advisor — former undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Ribbit Capital's general partner, Sigal Mandelker.
