Andrew Bailey, the governor of Bank of England, says in a webinar event on Monday that the BOE is debating about the creation of a central-backed digital currency, as reported by Bloomberg.

Knowing digital currencies will drastically influence the “nature of payments and society”, Bailey says they will be heading toward some digital currencies in a few years. 

As private sectors have already embraced digital currencies, major central banks finally start to review this possibility.
