Darknet interactions with crypto mixers have increased significantly by 2100%, as a report published by Crystal Blockchain on July 14 shows.

Mixer services enable users to obscure the trail back to the original source. The amount darkent entities sent to crypto mixers in the first quarter of 2020 shots up to $67 million compared with $3 million last year. As the report concluded, the number indicates darknet users’ “response to increased regulation and verification processes for exchanges”.

Meanwhile, the amount of bitcoin sent from a darknet entity to another also increased, suggesting darknet’s attempt to avoid detection.
