Paying Bitcoin to see children being tortured on the dark web sent two Italian 17-years-olds to prison, as reported by local media Il Messaggero on July 15. 

“The room of horrors” accepted cryptocurrency payment from viewers connected to dark web sites. It streamed contents include children being sexually abused, tortured, and murdered. Viewers were even allowed to decide which torture the children would be executed if they paid an extra payment.  

25 suspects (19 minors and 6 adults) are involved in the investigation. Behind the clamor for cryptocurrencies’ anonymity, warped applications are also emerging.
