Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Heath Tarbert has announced that Ether is being considered a commodity, according to Yahoo Finance.

This means that Ether now falls under the jurisdiction of the CFTC, just like Bitcoin. This should also mean that Ethers futures should begin trading on U.S. markets in the near future. Ether just like with the SEC, will not be seen as a security, similarly to Bitcoin.
