The Ethereum Foundation is challenging security researchers to break Etheruem 2.0's network in an effort to uncover issues with the design, according to an announcement on GitHub on Monday, July 20.

The networks are smaller than a typical ready-to-run version with only four nodes and 128 validators. Each network is run on an existing client, lighthouse or prysm, and has a possible reward of $5,000. To win the reward, contenders will need to prevent finality for 16 consecutive epochs.

Deposits are not enabled for the beta-0 testnets, so researchers will have to develop non-validator based attacks.
