Hackers demanded $7.5 million in Monero from Telecom SA  an Argentinean telecommunications company  to restore their computers functionality after a ransomware attack, as reported by local outlets.

Employees Telecom SA told El Periodista that the company was under attack for 72 hours and blocked employees from accessing databases and its virtual private network. The attack only affected computers belonging to teams working on remote customer service.

Hackers demanded the ransom to give back control of keys so that employees could log back into the company's systems. La Nacion reported that the company was able to defend against the attack without paying the ransom.
