Intercontinental Exchange Inc (ICE) Vice-President Jennifer Ilkiw stated in an interview with The Edge Markets, that many institutional investors are highly interested in trading Bitcoin Futures.

Ilkiw said that futures contracts have received more interest than anything she has traded in the past 12 years. The trading of Bitcoin Futures however is difficult because most of the existing exchanges are severely underregulated. These exchanges lack risk management procedures, comprehensive market surveillance and supervision systems for market manipulation detection.
