Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman of California went after Mark Zuckerberg’s claims that Libra would aid the poor and unbanked people around the world’s attempt to enter the financial system.

Sherman said, “The poor and unbanked need pesos, they need dollars that they can buy something at a local store. You’ve done no effort to help the unbanked anywhere else and any other time.”

Sherman believes that instead this system will only help those who attempt to circumvent the financial system through illegal activities, such as drug dealing and tax evasion.
