Blockchain technology may soon be integrated into Russia's national rail system, comments from Sergey Vinogradov, the general director of the Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport in Russia suggest.

Local media outlet Vgudok reported that Vinogradov believes Russia's national rail system could be managed using smart contracts held on a blockchain working together with a predictive system for managing container trains.

A blockchain-based rail system could help logistics firms, product buyers and sellers to purchase cargo spaces on trains.
