The major darknet marketplace Empire Market has been offline for over 48 hours for unknown reasons, as reported by Cointelegraph. Users are worried about whether the dark web is suffering a DDoS attack.

On Reddit, rumors loom large amid Empire Market’s complete silence. Some assume that it is an exit scam, in which a company disappears with customers’ funds without any warning.

“Last year extended periods of downtime were common before the Endgame DDoS filter was released.” An anonymous journalist specializing in the Tor Project tweeted, “After months of nearly perfect uptime, this downtime feels more stressful than the frequent Empire downtimes of 2019.”
