SpaceChain Foundation announced the successful launch of their blockchain hardware wallet technology via SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station (ISS) in a tweet Thursday.

This is the first instance of blockchain technology on the ISS, however, it is the third payload deployment the firm has made in space.

The technology is being deployed as part of the CRS-19 commercial resupply service mission. The wallet is to be installed on the station and will display the receipt, authorization and retransmission of blockchain transactions.

The blockchain wallet currently supports the Qtum blockchain and the company is adding support for Ethereum.
