Addressing the higher chamber of Russia's parliament on Wednesday, September 23 Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov stated that developing blockchain technologies will be one of the government's priorities in the near future, according to a local outlet.

Belousov plans for blockchain to play a role in secure coordination between the government and private corporations. Artificial intelligence, quantum computing, new materials, quantum sensing, microelectronics, 5G technologies, quantum communications and energy were also named as technology priorities for the Russian government. 

In order to facilitate this innovation, he added that a new system of venture financing will need to be implemented. He envisioned a system that encourages public-private partnership.
