Bitcoin mining company Riot Blockchain bought another 2,500 S19 Pro Antminer rigs from BitmainTech PTE, according to an announcement on Wednesday, October 7.

The company paid $6.1 million for the new equipment with delivery and deployment scheduled for December. The expansion is expected to expand the company's hash rate from 500 PH/s to around 2.3 EH/s by June.

Riot Blockchain has plans to quadruple mining power by mid-2021 to meet increasing demand for Bitcoin.
