The World Economic Forum is launching a new initiative in partnership with the Global Blockchain Business Council to assess the state of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, according to a recent announcement.

The new Global Standards Mapping Initiative will explore technical standards, legislation released by government bodies and industry best practices and standards to assess the digital asset and blockchain space.

The GSMI analizes 30 technical organizations, 185 jurisdictions and 400 industry groups to idenitfy trends and provide action-oriented advice to private and public actors in the space.
