Crypto payments tech company Circle has announced that it will make USDC available for the Solana blockchain, according to an announcement on Tuesday, October 21.

The announcement stated that Solana supports up to 50,000 transactions per second (tps) compared to Ethereum's transaction rate of 15 tps. Circle's goal is to bring the dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC standard to multiple blockchains.

USDC is supported on three other blockchains: Ethereum, Algorand, and Stellar. Competing stablecoin Tether has been launched on eight blockchains Ethereum, EOS, Liquid Network, Omni, OMG Network, Algorand, and Tron.

Founder and CEO, FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried said that having USDC natively available on Solana will give decentralized application developers access to fast and liquid capital.
