Coinbase is launching a crypto visa debit card in the United States in early 2021, according to a recent announcement.

The card has been available in the United Kingdom and European Union since April 2019 and currently operates in 30 countries. American customers can manage the cards through their Coinbase accounts allowing for any Coinbase supported cryptocurrency to be spent through the debit card.

The card is issued by MetaBank and powered by payments platform Marqeta. Coinbase hopes the card will help fuel mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies, especially following PayPal's announcement last week that account holders will be able to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrencies.
